LOVES AND LAMENTATIONS OF WOMEN from Euripides tragedies. Alcestis, Andromache, Medea, Iphigenia, Helen, Hecuba, and Electra.

In the summer of 2018 Sound and Pictures Ltd in collaboration with The House of the Actor produced a composition of monologues by central heroines from Euripides plays. Seven imposing women characters whose names are the actual tragedies written from Euripides Alcestis, Andromache, Medea, Iphigenia, Helen, Hecuba, and Electra. The play titled “Loves and lamentations of women” presented in Odeon of Herodes Atticus was a great success. The show’s revenue will be donated to the Foundation “The House of the Actor”. Director Panos Angelopoulos collaborates with the composer-musician Dimitris Papadimitriou on the original music of the play as well as with the choreographer Ersi Pitta on the teaching and movement of the dance. The translation of the play is done by George Exarchou.

Euripides heroines are interpreted by 7 seven of the most important and talented Greek actresses.

It’s a composition of parts from Euripides central characters’ monologues and dialogues as a rendering of the female personality and its evolution into perpetuity. The women’s “Monologues” demonstrated through their love-lamentations, the depth of their personality leading that way to a better tracing of their historical status. Their presence is intensely full of vigour and determination, courtesy and generosity, dynamism, confidence and intelligence. Each woman is unique, overly emotional, seductive and dramatic.

Director Panos Angelopoulos without departing from the original text focuses on the seven imposing female figures to reveal the secret of their tragic course.
